Observations following the thirteenth Mattress Poker Tour Main Event, the ninth event of the 2020 season, played on Pokerstars.net on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
- Viceroy in the 43rd player in MPT history to play in more than one MPT event
- Amazon passed Betdponies to move into sixth place for the most career MPT appearances, with 31
- Sionow passed Judykq to move into the top ten in career MPT appearances, with 18
- Syrorange3042 is the 12th player in MPT history to play in more than one MPT Main Event
- Six players (Sionow, dukegal76, Skyweb22, ru47suited, JTinLV, and Viceroy) played in their first Main Event in 2020, the most Main Event rookies since the first Main Event in 2007
- Pokerstars.net (and everyone's homes/hotel rooms) was the eighth different location for an MPT Main Event
- With 14 players, this was the largest Main Event in MPT history, three more players than the 2010 MPT Main Event, and tied for the third largest field in any MPT event
- At 3 hours 42 minutes, this was the longest running Main Event, eclipsing the 2013 Main Event (3:17), and the fifth longest tournament in MPT history
- Harv29, RowanB, Bigfus, and Sass continued their streaks of playing in every MPT Main Event
- For the second season in a row a player won their second career Main Event title, as Sass became the fifth player to win more than one Main Event, joining Betdponies, Bigfus, Harv29, and RowanB
- With wins in the two largest events in the 2020 season, Sass leapt past TSS777 in fourth place on the all-time money list

- Solotrombone is the tenth different person to win the MPT Player of the Year award, and the sixth different winner in the last six years that title was awarded
- Both Solotrombone and RowanB topped Bigfus record of 94 points, for the most points in a single season (though RowanB did so playing two more events than Bigfus did in that 2010 season)
- Solotrombone is the first player in MPT history to win the Player of the Year award the next season after finishing in last place in the standings the previous season (though, Noahcat finished in last place in the 2013 season standings and rebounded to win the 2016 Player of the Year, which was the next season she participated in)
- RowanB is the first player in MPT history to finish as runner-up in the Player of the Year standings in back-to-back years
- RowanB tied Sass for the most Main Event runner-up finishes, each with three
- RowanB passed Sass for second most second place finishes in an MPT career, with 10, trailing only Bigfus' 12 career runner-up finishes
- RowanB's three second place finishes in 2020 marked the most in a season since Bigfus finished second three times in 2010, trailing only Bigfus' four runner-up finishes in 2008 and Sass's doing the same in 2009 for the most single season second place finishes
- With his sixth cash of the year, RowanB moved into a tie with Bigfus's 2010 season for the second most cashes in a single MPT season, though Bigfus still holds the single season record of seven cashes during the 2008 season
- RowanB moved into solo possession of second place for the most cashes in Main Event history, with six, trailing only Harv29's seven Main Event cashes
- RowanB set a new record by cashing in his fourth straight MPT Main Event, breaking a tie with Betdponies and Bigfus for the longest such streak
- Solotrombone topped the season-ending money list for the first time in his MPT career, while RowanB finished in second place in that race for the fifth time, two more than Harv29, the only other player to finish second on the money list in more than one season
- Solotrombone finished with the third highest season long cash total in MPT history, trailing only Bigfus' 2010 and 2011 seasons
- Solotrombone's wining margin on the money list at the end of the season was the fourth largest in MPT history

- This event broke the record for most bounties awarded in a single event, with seven, one more than the previous two events this year and the October 2008 "Bounty Bowl"
- Sass moved past TSS777 for the third highest number of bounties collected in her MPT career, now trailing only Bigfus and Harv29
- This was the first time in MPT recorded history that A-K off-suit was the winning player's hand on the last hand of the tournament (though Betdponies did win the November 2010 event with A-K suited)
